Training for Generations of Faith for Byzantine Churches in Canada

On January 23 - 24, 2009 Sister Ann Laszok, OSBM presented the use of Generations of Faith for Byzantine Churches to the Eparchy of Edmonton. In attendance were priests and core leaders from frsome 17 parishes. The inservice started on Friday evening with the Forgiveness Vespers (since the session that was used for training purpose was the Great Fast).

Saturday morning a mini Great Fast session was experienced and later explained by Sr Ann. The afternoon was filled with planning how the parishes would implement Generations of Faith for Byzantine Churches in their parishes.

Evaluations and comments were very positive. Some comments were:
  • Enjoyed the participation and the workshop
  • It’s unfortunate the microphone was not used in the afternoon – also, it would have helped if the presenter – for adults would have used an icon. Otherwise – very good.
  • The only complaint I would have is that it was hard to hear Sister without a mike, otherwise it was very good.
  • (In Ukrainian) Forward with God!!
  • Great session – very informative – appreciate all the information and materials – looking forward to incorporating in our parish
  • This program is something that is very overdue in our church. At many conventions people have asked for this. May the Holy Spirit guide us in this task.
  • No suggestions. Everything was fine.
  • To see the curriculum earlier on would be helpful. (Before participating in the age related activity)
  • I am really inspired & excited to begin working on GOF in my parish. Sr. Ann was a great leader and I really enjoyed the inservice. I hope the whole program never goes on the website b/c I gained so much from being here that I would not have gained from just viewing a website.
  • Would have liked a package before I came to this – to be able to read ahead of time.
  • Our group wanted more time to talk and found it difficult to be interrupted to go “to the next step” We talked in circles between all 4. A very good speaker with lots of good ideas and advice!! Thank you very much.
  • Keynote was very engaging, knowledgable, well spoken. Very well paced sessions.
  • I am very much looking forward to implementing this program within our church.
  • The afternoon was too long.
  • I am more than overwhelmed with the whole inservice. I recommend this in high importance to anyone. Job well done! Thank you!
  • Video screen could have been larger hard to see small print
  • It is all mind boggling but something to look forward to and some program that is long overdue. God Bless! Look forward to implementation and working on it.
  • I would have liked to sit in all the sessions – when broke into groups.
  • Wow! Thank you Jesus!
  • Still a big learning curve. . . but going in the right direction. Positive outlook . . . always valuable
  • More in depth introductory notes given with mailed out invitations might be helpful ie advertising video
  • There should be more brochures re: generations of faith
